Deploying Changes

If you make any changes to a project, you MUST deploy the changes, otherwise the devices will not receive the new data.

Once you have made a change to your project, you will see the red ! next to Deploy, to show that there is a deployment waiting to be sent out.

In order to deploy your changes, navigate to the Deploy tab. Once on that page, you will have the option to change the deployment options:

  • UI Required: The next time the device checks in, if there is a pending download, the user will have to agree before the download begins. The user also has the option to pause the update at any time.
  • Forced: The next time the device checks in, the update UI will appear, but the user will not have the option to pause or stop the update.
  • Silent: The next time the device checks in, the update UI will not appear, but the update will download in the background. If the user launches the Management app from the app launcher, or if the app was already opened, the UI will appear, but the user will not have the option to pause or stop the update. If an application is kiosked, this check-in will happen in the background, unless the user clicks "check for update".
    • With a Silent deployment, if a device is asleep and a deployment is sent, the update will take effect upon the device waking up. It may take a moment for the changes to fully update, depending on the size of the deployment.

Once the deployment has finished, you will see it in the list here:

In the Status field, you will see the status of each of the deployments.

  • Sent (Green): The policies were built properly and the reload policies command was sent to the device(s).
  • Sent (Yellow): The policies were built properly for some devices and the reload policies command was sent to the devices.
  • Interrupted: It has been 15 minutes since the deployment but the deployment was unable to complete.
  • Error: The deployment failed. View results for more information.
