Within Ensemble, you can now enable Push Notifications through your Company portal. Below, you will find the instructions for the different methods for enabling the notifications, using the application itself, and exporting previously sent messages.

Enable push notifications

In order to use the push notifications, you must have them enabled. To do this, navigate to your project, then the policies page, and then the Push Notifications Settings tab.

Once you enable the push notifications, this will cause the notifications app itself to be visible in the application drawer outside of kiosk mode, and disabling it will remove it from the application drawer when out of kiosk mode.

Single push notifications

  • Navigate to the Company or Project Devices page.
  • Click on "Options" > "Remote Commands" to the right of the device you would like to send a push notification to in the devices table.
  • Select "Push Notification" from the list of command options.

  • Enter a title and message.
  • Click "Send"

Multiple Devices Push Notifications

If you wish to send push notifications to multiple devices, you can do it in two ways: Either using a CSV file, or using the Project Devices page. The instructions for both are below:

CSV Uploader

  • Navigate to the Company or Project Devices page.
  • Click on the vertical three-dot icon at the top-right of the table.
  • Choose "Actions via CSV".
  • From the "Select an action" dropdown menu, choose "Send Command", then select "Push Notification".
  • Enter a title and message in the proper fields of the CSV file. You can download a pre-formatted sample CSV to fill out by using the link in the message box.
    • The proper fields are:
      • IMEI or Serial Number
      • Message
      • Title

  • Attach the CSV file with compatible devices.
  • Click "Upload"

Project Push Notifications

  • You can also send push notifications to your device(s) via the Project page.
  • You can send the notifications the same way you would on your company devices page, either single devices by clicking "options" on the right side of the screen, or by clicking the 3 dots button and choosing "Send Push Notification".

  • You can also use a CSV file to send commands in bulk on your project page as well.

Setting Push Notification Application as Shortcut

When you are in your project policies page, you can set a shortcut to go to the Push Notifications application, which will show you a history of the notifications sent to the device.

In order to do this, you need to:

  • Navigate to your project policies page, and go to the Kiosk Settings tab.
  • Scroll down to the preview of the device screen, and choose where you'd like to place the shortcut.
  • Once you select the location, choose Application from the first drop-down menu, then choose "Push Notifications" from that drop-down list.
  • The package name "com.conversasolutions.notifications" should auto-fill in the package name field.

  • From there, you can add a label, change the font and icon color if you wish, and then click Add to add the shortcut to the kiosk home screen.
  • If you wish to change the way the Push Notification application itself looks, you can change the settings for it on the Push Notifications Settings tab on the Project Policies Page.

  • From here, you can change the header title, the colors of the fonts, as well as the background color, if you wish.

Export Previous Messages

If you need to export a report of the notifications that were sent to the devices on your project, you can do so by going to the Reports and Activity page on the left side of your Ensemble company page.

Once on that page, choose the project you wish to export the notifications from in the Project Reports field, and then select "Push Notifications", and then click Export.

This will generate an Excel sheet containing the information requested.
