This deployment method is done during the setup wizard, initiated when a phone is factory reset or powered on for the first time.


  • Start with a new device out of the box or factory reset a device.
    • Log out of all Gmail accounts before factory resetting.
    • To factory reset a device, go to the Settings.
    • Go to the "General" or "General Management" settings.
    • Select "Reset" then "Factory data reset".
    • Type "factory reset" in the search settings to find it easier.


Note: factory reset options may be different depending on your Android model and OS.


  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network or enter a SIM card with data.
  • Proceed through the Setup Wizard until asked to enter a Gmail account.
  • Enter the code afw#ensemble in place of a Gmail address.



  • Make sure to click "install" once the setup screen appears.
    • A message will be displayed that says: "This account requires mobile device management. Install the Management app to enforce security policies required by the account."
    • The second install screen will display "Do you want to install this application? It does not require any special access."
  • On the "Set up your device" screen, click "Accept".
  • If this device has been added to a project, those project settings will be applied at this point. Otherwise, a login page should appear.
