TABLE OF CONTENTS

Some apps you approve through the Google Play store allow you to create a set of app settings for them, these are known as managed configurations. For example, with Google Chrome, you can set a default home screen (among many other settings).

In order to create managed configurations for the app, you must first have an Enterprise setup and have the desired devices on an Ensemble project that has that app installed. For more information on Enterprise setup, please see our knowledgebase article here

Creating A Managed Configuration

  • From your Ensemble company, go to the Google Play content page.
  • Select a desired app you'd like to setup a managed configuration for. (you may need to approve them if not done so already). Chrome and GMail are two well known apps with managed configuration settings.
  •  In the options menu next to the desired app, select Managed Configurations from the list.

  •  A new dialog will appear with all of the created configurations you have made for this app. Select Add Configuration in the top-right of the table to create your first managed configuration.

  •  Another dialog will appear with settings for the app (these settings are controlled by Google). Give the configuration a name and the configuration will appear in the list after you save it.
  •  From here, you can use the table to edit / remove, and publish the configuration to existing devices in your company. (Note: configurations can be deleted from the Edit Configuration dialog that pops up when you select that option).
  •  Publishing configurations will bring up a dialog for you to choose which company devices you want to publish the app changes to and similarly for removing them from devices.
